Post #7: Expository Post (Kevin Terrero)

This blog, along with its posts, make reference to Mr. Spencer, from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, where they tell us in an organized and correct way the life of this Pencey Prep history teacher. Some of the data we use to relate this blog to our character is that we get carried away with how the novel describes his appearance and lifestyle, such as where he lives, his profession, his bathrobe (which he wears with it for many years), her medications, her pain, her illnesses, her age (with this, we determine that Mr. Spencer is from a previous era, which is why he does not have as much knowledge of the new and current era), among other more information. Now, the images that we show you are derived from the same character, we can see this since in these images, we can notice how they relate to each other, with the descriptions of the novel, thus showing us the physical appearance of Mr. Spencer, his house, the magazine he spends reading, which is the magazine: “Atlantic Monthly”, his bathrobe, and also, one of these images shows us when he is talking and giving advice to Holden Caulfield. Another detail that we can highlight about this blog is its design and background, which the intense orange color and the image of old books make us understand that we will be getting to know the life of someone who is related to the past, which in this case, it would be The Old History Teacher. I add to this that this blog is a great help to understand a little more about Mr. Spencer's life, and also provides us with key elements that serve as a guide to locate ourselves in the novel, such as the environments and places where the story is based the novel, the heading that it takes, how the characters react and act in various situations (which in this case, we focus more on Mr. Spencer), and where we also come to reflect that the consequences we must go through, are the result of our decisions. I want to finish this writing by commenting that, both the images and the information that each of these posts has, contribute by highlighting the life of Mr. Spencer, that, although he is not the protagonist of this novel nor is he frequently mentioned, Mr. Spencer helps us describing the personality, character, interests, life and overall mentality of the main character of this novel, who is Holden Cualfield. And for this reason, we can classify Mr. Spencer is an important character, who stands out in this novel as a simple history teacher who helps, advises and influences the youngest, motivating them so that their actions bring with them the best desired results, always making it clear that “Life is a game that one plays according to the rules”.
